Xmas dinner at The Thorold Arms for the intrepid Aubourn
International Flying Group. Our guests were Andy & Helen
from Caunton, Nick & Ginny from the farm, and David &
Elinor representing Waddington ATC. A big thankyou to
them for all your support to us in 2006.
A good night was had by all.

Edward (Jonathan's brother) has asked for a flight.
Jonathan has given the O.K. so off we go. Great day and
Matilda (my old plane) now in Andrew's capable hands was
flying as well. Jonathan went for a flight in her and gave her
the thumbs up.
Meanwhile Edward and myself went for a pootle up the
Trent valley.
Two great lads, amazing when you know their father!!
(sorry Philip could not resist).

Well it is nearly Christmas so a Happy Christmas to one and all and may all your landings in 2007 be good
ones!
The weather has not been kind this last while, but in any event G-ERTE now has nearly 50 hours on the
clock, so soon be time for her 50 hour checks and a good clean up. 2006 will be happily remembered, but
equally we are looking forward to new adventures with her in 2007.

Dave Walster is a cameraman extraordinaire amongst many other talents. A regular at The Thorold, one of his
other skills is Pyrotechnics. His NYE Fireworks were truly special.

Well it's been a good January and February so far. Been flying with Frank (we went over to Netherthorpe for some
Yorkshire hospitality, great company with Frank; but Yorkshire folk are generally dour ;£8.50 landing fee and still
waiting for a smile in the cafe!!). Jonathan came for a flip on the 3rd and today we remembered the camera!! David
and myself went for a trip over The Peak District. Amazing Pollution haze over The Trent Valley, but West of The
Trent beautiful and clear. Chatsworth House was the highlight.

Nearly 60 hours on the clock now. This last few days
has been great for flying. Taken a few different folks
up for jollies. Ross (Hughs son) who lives at the airfield
came up for his first flight ever. Graham from the
village and Donna his girlfriend have been up. Donna
has her PPL so enjoyed flying GERTE from the
righthand seat.
A friend of Hughs'; Caroline went up for her first flight.
Tonight Daves daughter Nikky went for a spin.
Graham took some great photo's (see below and right).

Lovely flight over to Netherthorpe with Val this
afternoon. Nice welcome and especially
thanks to Jude who took photo's of the
Pietenpohl for us and sent them onto us by
e-mail.
Up to Breighton with Val this evening. Nobody there at
18:30 but a nice trip anyway.
