ADRIANS SKYRANGER 2009

Winter Wonderland!
Not much flying so far this year. North Coates brass monkey fly in in January was a great success. It was freezing
cold for folks like Andrew in Matilda (my old thruster TST) but Paul and I were fairly cozy in G-ERTE. The only chilly bit
was the draught under the door join.
Sorted out the draught with foam strip and went flying for 2 hours with Andrew today. Although below freezing we were
able to fly comfortably with no gloves on, very glad I put the cabin heat option in. Andrew has now started his Sky
Ranger build and has his first stage inspection tonight.
Beautiful looking out at the snow over the countryside but forgot my camera yet again.
Waddington advised that their runway was closed due to ice, we are only 2 miles away and have a lovely green dry
strip!

Matilda finally left for a new home in Norfolk. It was sad to see her go after
21years but I am glad she has gone to a good home.
Dave Garrison came up from Sutton Meadows to fly her out on a lovely
sunny day.
Went flying with Andrew over to Caunton, Andrew is now well on the way
with his own SkyRanger build. Later a bimble around Newark with Hugh.
The sugar beet factory at Newark was going full steam (see left).
Over 140 hours now.
14/04/09
Off over to Wilsford strip with Graham, very misty with an Easterly breeze.
Came in too high and despite weaving and slipping still had to go around.
Anyway then off for 20 minutes with Graham in his Cessna to find Alnwick
strip. Flew back to Aubourn and home by 8:00pm.

The WFAEC had a flyin to Skegness today. So off with Pyro Dave for fish and chips on
the front.
The windfarm off Skeggie is spectacular and Dave got some good photo's. (see left
and above).
Dave gave an improptu piano concert as The Control building has a piano and free
coffee for anyone who will play it!
24/05/09
Off up to Bagby (Near Thirsk) with Dave Shannon today for their
microlight flyin.
Superb welcome, great burgers and plenty to see. The flying dog was a
highlight for me!
01/06/09
A big day down at the strip! Andrew did the first engine run on his new SkyRanger. Soon
G-ERTE will have a hangar mate!
04/06/09
Andrew has finished except for control set ups so we went for a quick flight over to Caunton
in G-ERTE to celebrate.

Time for G-ERTE's annual permit renewal. All went well except for a cracked fuel line to the port carb and a cracked exhaust bracket. Ken
re-welded the cracked exhaust and she was ready to go by the weekend. Andy was pleased with the way she continues to fly. Glad to say
she is good to go for another year.

02/07/09
Waddington airshow practice day, so no flying allowed from
our strip today!
Red Arrows gave a great display as always.

Well another Summer is now well and truly over!
Went flying with Jason (next door neighbour) in the rain this afternoon. Jason is
Canadian and is still adjusting to our climate.
Photo above shows the new GPS unit that I have on Beta test from Memory
Map. 4.3" screen and seems to work a treat except that the battery runs down
very quickly hence being plugged into 12V socket. Top right Caunton hangar
with G-ERTE below at Caunton about to go behind Andrew and Jeannette in
G-JAOC. Below is Lincoln Cathedral with storm clouds gathering to the North,
just got back in time.
20/02/10 Bloody hell that's a bit close!! Actually I was on the side of the runway as he (a laser Z200) came into land, the vertical shadow is my prop spinning.

20/02/10 Happy New Year At last I remembered the camera! Went down to Deenethorpe with Hugh today. Hugh took some great pics. Including Rockingham racetrack, the famous Harringworth viaduct, and Belvoir Castle. Very snowy over the high ground. Deenethorpe has one heck of a long runway, but a great welcome

David Walster (Pyro Dave) agreed to do a photo shoot for
Skellingthorpe primary school as it is their 40th anniversary. Wind
was gusting to 20 knots and a bit bumpy but Dave did a great job of
capturing the kids in the playground. See left
18/04/10
Off down to Sywell with Dave for a visit on their fly in weekend. See
below for shot of the new Nynja. Paul Dewhirst advises that there is
just spin testing to go for final approval.
